Ed Del Castillo named producer for Origin - Firaxis Partnership

ORIGIN Names Del Castillo to Highly-Acclaimed Development Partnership

ORIGIN Systems(tm), an Electronic Arts(tm) (Nasdaq: ERTS) company announces the hiring of noted producer Ed Del Castillo to help manage the company's strategic partnership with software developer Firaxis Games(tm), the new company formed by legendary game developer Sid Meier.

Based in ORIGIN's Baltimore office, Del Castillo will manage the company's relationship with Firaxis on a day-to-day basis. He will be responsible for tactical production issues and coordination with Electronic Arts marketing and distribution on all Firaxis products, including the upcoming release of Sid Meier's Gettysburg!. Del Castillo will also be instrumental in developing and implementing strategies for leveraging Firaxis properties through ports, sequels, and other derivative works.

Del Castillo comes to ORIGIN(tm) from Westwood Studios, where he served as producer of the hugely successful Commander & Conquer series including Commander & Conquer: Counterstrike, Commander & Conquer: Red Alert, Commander & Conquer: Tiberian Dawn and Commander & Conquer: Covert Operations. Prior to that Del Castillo worked for Mindcraft Software, Inc. where he designed and produced such titles as Bloodstone, Ambush, Tegal's Mercenaries and Siege.
