Cheat Codes:
Step One: Open the file Baldur.ini in your Baldur's Gate directory and add the line Cheats=1 under the [Game Options] entry. Then save the file and run the game.
Step Two: Once in the game, hit Ctrl-Tab to bring up the console in which you type the cheats. Ctrl-Tab will also close this console. Type in the cheats exactly as they appear below and hit the [Enter] key to activate.
If you do not do both steps one and two, you will not be able to use the cheats listed below:
- Cheats:TheGreatGonzo() - Summons 10 killer chickens who defend you.
- Cheats:FirstAid() - Creates 5 healing potions, 5 neutralize poison potions, and 1 stone to flesh scroll.
- Cheats:Midas() - Gives you 500 gold.
- Cheats:CowKill() - Creates a CowKill spell if you're near a cow.
- Cheats:DrizztAttacks() - Creates a hostile Drizzt.
- Cheats:DrizztDefends() - Creates a friendly Drizzt.
- Cheats:CriticalItems() - Spawns all the game's critical items.
- Cheats:Hans() - Moves your characters to a free adjacent area.
- Cheats:ExploreArea() - Marks entire area explored.
After editing the Baldur.ini file in the Bgate directory, (as was done for the other cheats), you can use the following codes:
- CLUAConsole:CreateItem("xxx")
- where xxx is the code for an item, see below
- CLUAConsole:CreateCreature("yyy") where yyy is the name of a creature or NPC ie: CLUAConsole:CreateCreature("Ray") will create a gibberling
- CLUAConsole:CreateCreature("Khalid") will create Khalid
- CLUAConsole:CreateCreature("Noober") will create the best NPC in the game ;)
- Note: The name you enter is limited to 6 characters, so some names are different, as in Jaheira would have to be entered as blah:("Jaheir")
- CLUAConsole:SetCurrentXP("8900") Set the current Experience points for all party members to 8900

Bug Cheats
- A friend of mine tried to use this bug to have a lot of money... we had the same prob... But... we ... (i like ...) seriously: hum :
place the pot.. switch with the gem ( pearl or diamond is the best) go back to the game click a lot of time on the false potion, go back to invetory click ont the gem replace it in the qi go back to the game, ..... do it as many times as necessary, it works, then you'll have 65535 gems and you'll sell them between 700.000 and 14.000.000gp good luck ..............
- I discovered a bug. For characters having special abilities (eg. Paladin has Detect evil and Lay Up Hands) they gain these immediately after clicking the 'Level up' button. Now press ESC to cancel the level up screen, and the character got the abilities, but still has to upgrade his level. Repeat this process for real fun. Bealrati
- Export Cheat: You can use the export cheat at any time to duplicate items. For example you can go talk to the Gatewarden in Candlekeep, the castle you start in. The Gatewarden asks you if you want to practice some mass combat, do it. Go down into the cellar and a wizard will create some illusion bad guys and an illusion party. Go into the illusion party inventory, and take all their good stuff....some plate mail, shield +1, some wands...now export your character. If you tell the wizard to teleport back outside, you'll lose the stuff - you have to export your character. Now, start a new game, import the character and he will have all the cool stuff. Do this as often as you like....you can sell the plate armor for 300gp! With the small golden shield, make sure you identify it before you sell it, if you sell it without identifying it you'll only get 1gp, if you identify it and sell it you'll get about 500gp...
- Easy Level Gain and Money
---------------------------------------------------------
When starting the game in the Town of Candlekeep do all the "Quests" (errands for guards, and other characters). That means anything that gives experience. Once you have done this go to the Character Screen and export your character.
End the game and start a new game and import character. This allows you to start the game with the amount of experience that you had gained. Repeat until satisfied.
- Easy Money
----------
Put potions in all of your quick item slots. Switch to the inventory screen and replace the rightmost potion with a gem. Now return to the adventure screen. Notice the picture of the potion you replaced with a gem still looks like a potion. Click it multiple times and return to the iventory screen. The number of gems should change from 1 to no number at all. Switch back to adventure screen and repeat the process... now you should have 65,000 gems.
- Object Duplication
------------------
Export the character that has the object(s) you wish to duplicate, export said character to a vacant slot. Then, when in a game, import that character to get the items in his/her inventory. The same character can be imported multiple times to the same party.
